The luncheon is in partnership with the Forum for Innovation, which will focus on high-growth companies in the region, and NEW North, the regional economic development group. It will be held at the Fox Valley Technical College D.J. Bordini Center, 5 N. Systems Drive, conference center BC112A. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m., lunch at noon and the presentation at 12:30 p.m. The cost is $10 for individual members and students, $20 for general admission and included for Tech Council corporate members. The event will begin with opening remarks from Appleton Mayor Timothy Hanna. Tech Council President Tom Still will moderate as a panel of entrepreneurs and an investor discuss the pros (occasional cons) of raising angel and venture capital. They are:
• Paul Jones, founder of FiNN and a principal in Angels on the Water and Ventures on the Water, all of which are based in the Fox Valley. Jones is also an attorney who has led startups and raised tens of millions of capital over time.
• Jeff Leismer, CEO and founder of VibeTech, a company that offers the fastest, most comprehensive, most accessible equipment for the physical rehabilitation of patients who have difficulties standing or walking.
• Dan Nickchen, CEO and founder of OrgPix (LIVEALITY), a company that preserves memories with a professionally created Eventbook that can be shared with the world.
“The Fox Valley has the potential to produce more high-growth, venture-backed companies over time. By focusing on some current examples and hearing from a veteran investor, we hope to help build momentum for the region,” Still said.
